The Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia from London, where it was made. The inscription on this symbol of freedom quotes Leviticus 25, “Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.” This is just one of many examples of the impact of Jewish culture and values on Western civilization, especially in Early America.
