Ibrahim Abu Dayya, commander of Army of Jihad, was born in 1917 in the village of Surif, by the Etzion Bloc. In World War II, he joined the regiment raised by the mufti of Jerusalem under Nazi command. In the War of Independence, Abu Dayya directed several successful battles, including that which destroyed the IDF’s 35th Regiment (the Lamed Heh) on the way to Jerusalem.
