Israeli prime minister David Ben Gurion announced the capture of Adolf Eichmann, one of the main perpetrators of the Nazis’ Final Solution and the extermination of millions of Jews in the gas chambers, by Mossad agents in Buenos Aires. Eichmann’s trial in Israel provided the Jewish people with its first opportunity to give public expression to the horrors of the Holocaust, with witnesses’ testimony broadcast daily on the radio and widely reported in the media.
