The Third Wall

7 Iyar 3828 – April 27 68

Jerusalem

Roman soldiers under Titus breached Jerusalem’s third wall, which Agrippa I had begun building almost thirty years earlier to protect his city’s outlying northern suburbs. Although Emperor Claudius had halted construction of the wall, it was hastily finished by the Zealots defending Jerusalem at the beginning of the Great Revolt. It took the Romans another two years of siege to conquer the Holy City, including the Temple.
